New Zealand's got talent

Nick left at 8.15 am to start a long day of wood cutting - he chainsawed all day until arriving home with a huge trailer-load at 6 pm. This free wood is a huge blessing for us - the winter is loooong and cold and electricity bills shoot up if one doesn't have an adequate wood supply. Meanwhile, the boys and I were at home doing some chores (I tackled the pile of ironing) and in the afternoon I took them to the pool. It was quiet when we arrived but two hours later the action had picked up and there were heaps of kids about. We mustered up a small group to attend the Carnival Talent Show in the evening. The talent standard was pretty high with some excellent novice performers participating. My favourite, and the winner of the intermediate section, was Sarah Leslie whose rendition of Nella Fantasia in her white chocolate voice flowed over the crowd like liquid silk...she has talent!! The men made a group decision to brave The Roundup after the show; safety in numbers I guess. Watching them and trying to hear their shrieks was nearly as much fun as watching the watchers... And then it was the ladies' turn - Adele, Danielle and Dannica laughed through their Octopus ride but Adele didn't fare too well afterward! Ended our evening with tea at Andreas and Danielle.
